"Top Gun" is a film from Tony Scott ("Enemy of the State", "True Romance"). It stars Top Cruise as a young pilot trainee in the Navy. He and his co-pilot, Goose (Anthony Edwards are quickly rising as the best team in the Navy training program. Through many trials and certainly a few errors, Maverick (Cruise) spends the movie finding out what it takes to be a true Navy pilot. "Top Gun" is a decent and certainly entertaining film, though in many parts, it falls prey to many 80's cliches. From music choices to some of the dialogue, it is hard not to laugh out loud at some of the parts that were not entirely intended for humor. However, if you can get past the uncountable high fives and the seriously ridiculous nicknames, then it provides for a great date movie.
