The Secret Life of Bees is a heartwarming story about a young girl Lily (Dakota Fanning) who was raised by her father and her African American housekeeper Rosalene (Jennifer Hudson) set in the times of the Civil Rights Act. After some racist acts towards Rosalene, Rosalene and Lily decide to run away in search of freedom. In a small town in South Carolina, the two find a place to stay and work at a honey farm with three sisters, played by Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Sophie Okonedo. This is a wonderful story of finding love and family when you feel like you are in a world that is cold and lost. It is a beautiful story that will make you laugh and cry, and it truly shows the power of family and love. Based of the novel by Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees is definitely the must see movie of the season!
